How to Play Backgammon
Each player begins with fifteen checkers. The goal is to move every checker into your home board and then remove, or bear off, all fifteen before your opponent.
- Roll two dice at the start of your turn.
- Move one checker for each die, or move one checker twice when both moves are legal.
- Rolling doubles gives four moves of the same value.
- You may land on an empty point, your own occupied point, or a point with exactly one enemy checker.
- Landing on one enemy checker sends it to the bar.
- A checker on the bar must re-enter before any other checker can move.
- When every checker is inside your home board, begin bearing them off.

Backgammon Strategy Tips
- Avoid leaving too many single checkers, called blots, exposed.
- Build points with two or more checkers to block your opponent.

- Use the doubling cube when your position is clearly stronger.

How the Doubling Cube Works
The match starts at one point. Before rolling, a player may offer to double the match value. The opponent can accept and take ownership of the cube, or decline and lose the current match value. The cube can rise from 1× to 2×, 4×, 8×, and up to 64×.
